Sid Wilson Reportedly Out of Slipknot After More Than 25 Years

Slipknot DJ and turntablist Sid Wilson has reportedly been removed from the band after more than 25 years as a member, according to a report published Friday by TMZ. (tmz.com)

Sources cited by TMZ claim Wilson was informed late Friday that he had been permanently let go from the Iowa metal icons. At the time of publication, neither Wilson nor Slipknot have publicly commented on the reported split, and no reason for the decision has been announced. (tmz.com)

Wilson, known to fans as “#0,” joined Slipknot before the release of the band’s self-titled 1999 debut and quickly became one of the group’s most recognizable members thanks to his high-energy stage presence, turntable work, and constantly evolving masks. If confirmed, Wilson’s departure would mark another major lineup change for Slipknot, whose roster has shifted several times over the past decade.

Update (Aug. 1): Slipknot guitarist Jim Root appeared to address the growing speculation Saturday by sharing a message on his Instagram Story urging fans not to “believe everything you read” and to “wait until there’s more information.” Root did not mention Sid Wilson or the TMZ report directly, and neither Wilson nor Slipknot have issued an official statement regarding the reported split.
