The evening at Kia Center began with performances by MarcLo and Wyatt Flores. MarcLo is an R&B singer, songwriter, and producer with a smooth, soulful sound. Wyatt Flores is an Oklahoma country singer-songwriter whose music also carries a strong rock influence. Their styles are very different, but both artists prepared the crowd perfectly for the main performance.
When Teddy Swims walked onto the stage, the audience welcomed him with loud cheers. He opened the concert with “The Door,” immediately setting the energy for the entire evening. His voice sounded even stronger and deeper live than it does on his recordings: powerful and slightly raspy, yet still incredibly warm.

The stage for The UGLY Tour was large and multi-level. Its design resembled parts of a city street, while the lighting and video displays constantly changed with the mood of the music. The production included references to Atlanta, where Teddy grew up, as well as places connected to his life and musical journey. This made the stage feel like more than a beautiful background, it became part of his personal story.
Teddy performed alongside his band, Freak Freely. The guitars brought rock energy to the songs, the keyboards created a softer soul sound, and the bass and drums provided a strong rhythm. The backing vocalists blended especially well with his voice during the choruses. Teddy constantly interacted with the musicians, walking toward them, smiling, catching their eyes, and experiencing every song alongside them. It was clear that they were more than an accompanying band. They were a real team that understood one another.

Many of Teddy’s songs are deeply emotional. They explore love, heartbreak, doubt, and difficult personal experiences. He sings as though everything in those songs still affects him and he is living through those feelings all over again. Because of that, even familiar songs feel incredibly personal when performed live.
However, the concert never became too heavy or sad. The production included theatrical and lighthearted moments that changed the mood and allowed the audience to smile between the more emotional songs.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was the attention Teddy gave to his fans. While continuing to sing, he accepted items handed to him by people near the stage and signed them. Even in the middle of such a large production, he took the time to notice individual fans and give them a small personal moment. It felt genuinely sweet and sincere.
Throughout the concert, the lights, videos, and scenery changed the atmosphere without distracting from the music. Teddy’s voice, his songs, and his connection with the audience remained at the center of the show. At times, the entire arena sang along with him; during quieter moments, the crowd listened closely.

The concert ended with “Lose Control,” which was carried by voices throughout the arena. It was a powerful and emotional ending to the evening.
Onstage, Teddy may appear strong and even a little intimidating, but his music reveals someone completely different, honest, vulnerable, and full of heart. That contrast is exactly what makes his performance so special.
