Sid Wilson Reportedly Out of Slipknot After More Than 25 Years

Questions continue to surround Sid Wilson’s future with Slipknot after TMZ reported the band’s longtime DJ had been dismissed. Two days later, however, the report remains unconfirmed by either Wilson or the band, and recent social media activity has only fueled further speculation.

Sources cited by TMZ claim Wilson was informed late Friday that he had been permanently let go from the Iowa metal icons. At the time of publication, neither Wilson nor Slipknot have publicly commented on the reported split, and no reason for the decision has been announced. (tmz.com)

Wilson, known to fans as “#0,” joined Slipknot before the release of the band’s self-titled 1999 debut and quickly became one of the group’s most recognizable members thanks to his high-energy stage presence, turntable work, and constantly evolving masks. If confirmed, Wilson’s departure would mark another major lineup change for Slipknot, whose roster has shifted several times over the past decade.

Update (Aug. 1): Slipknot guitarist Jim Root appeared to address the growing speculation Saturday by sharing a message on his Instagram Story urging fans not to “believe everything you read” and to “wait until there’s more information.” Root did not mention Sid Wilson or the TMZ report directly, and neither Wilson nor Slipknot have issued an official statement regarding the reported split. 

Update (Aug. 2): Sid Wilson has broken his social media silence, but not to address reports that he has been removed from Slipknot. Instead, the longtime turntablist shared a video promoting his newly launched independent merchandise store. Wilson made no mention of the rumors surrounding his status with the band. 

The post comes one day after TMZ reported that Wilson had been permanently dismissed from Slipknot. Since then, guitarist Jim Root has urged fans not to “believe everything you read” and to “wait until there’s more information,” though he also stopped short of directly addressing the report. 

As of publication, neither Slipknot nor Wilson has issued an official statement confirming or denying the reported split, leaving the situation unresolved.
