Finnish shock rockers LORDI return with their 19th studio album, Limited Deadition — a synth-soaked love letter to 1980s pop culture. This time around, they crank the nostalgia to eleven, riffing on retro movies, toys, TV shows, and commercials while still delivering the over-the-top theatrical rock fans expect.
The album kicks off with vintage synths and punchy choruses, led by the standout single “Syntax Terror,” which channels Udo Dirkschneider in full scream. Tracks like “Hellizabeth” and “Legends Are Made Of Clichés” show LORDI at their tongue-in-cheek best — the latter being a horror-movie-reference overload in the best way possible. Then there’s “Collectable,” a spooky holiday-ready ballad about haunted toys that’s as bizarre as it is catchy.
While interludes (the SCG tracks) mostly serve to pad the runtime, the band regains momentum with gems like “Retropolis” and “Fangoria” — the latter name-dropping the cult horror mag. It’s goofy, it’s grimy, it’s 100% LORDI.
Approaching the 20th anniversary of their unexpected Eurovision win, LORDI proves they’re not going anywhere. Limited Deadition isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel — it’s polishing the same bloody, neon-lit tire they’ve been spinning for two decades. And somehow, it still works.
