LIVE REVIEW: LYNYRD SKYNYRD – DOUBLE TROUBLE DOUBLE VISION TOUR @ AMERIS BANK AMPHITHEATRE, ALPHARETTA, GA – JULY 23, 2026

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, and Six Gun Sally rip through Alpharetta on the first stop of the Double Trouble Double Vision Tour

Fans got a chance to prove their loyalty last night as they weathered the storm all the way until the end. The rain came in heavy not too long after Foreigner took the stage and it hit almost as hard as the bands themselves!

First Six Gun Sally came out and delivered a high energy Southern Rock set to a very eager crowd. They played a mix of originals and covers and are definitely worth checking them out if you haven’t heard them yet. Their song “Sittin Pretty is my new favorite of theirs. I think we can expect great things out of Six Gun Sally, especially if they keep hanging around bands like this.

Foreigner delivered, coming out strong with “Double Vision, Head Games, and Cold as Ice”. They had everybody on their feet with full attention and singing along right away. Their new vocalist Luis Maldonado is a perfect for the band bringing those fan favorites to life. His stage presence is as astounding as his voice is strong. And speaking of stage presence, Bruce Watson was so much fun to watch, hardly keeping his feet on the ground for a whole song, he was all over the stage. My favorite guitar of his was a well loved Gibson 335. John Roth held the other side of the stage down on a really nice Les Paul and even switching to bass while Jeff Pilson took to keys. I recognized him from his time in Dokken and I can see why he has the reputation he does! Phenomenal musician. Michael Bluestein held down the keys throughout the night and really filled out the dynamics. Chris Frazier kept a steady beat all night and gave so much momentum to an already powerhouse group of musicians. The chemistry in this lineup is really something special to see. They also had a really special moment when they played “I Wanna Know What Love Is”. The Mountain View High School Chorus joined them leading the full venue to sing along to this one. Foreigner comes back to Georgia in September if you were not able to make it out to this one. 

Lynyrd Skynyrd has always been iconic while keeping music alive throughout all iterations of the band proving that it’s not always about the specific people but a lifestyle. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a family that has evolved over the years alongside  generations of fans that all have their favorite memories of the band and the timeless music they all share. I remember first seeing them myself in September of 2001. I was amazed back then how well they were able to bring people together during a really tough point in history. And it was no different last night as I wrapped my cameras up in a poncho and watched so many fans dance in the rain absolutely soaked head to toe, and enjoying every second of it. They remained on their feet and sang along with every word. Even after all of these years you could feel the energy coming from each band member as they had their moments pointing to the sky or looking up in respect to the fallen legends that they played next to and grew up with. 

On vocals we had Johnny Van Zant, Carol Chase, and Stacy Michelle. Together they sounded like a time capsule straight out of 1973. On guitars and keys we had Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Damon Johnson, and Peter Keys. Medlocke has always been one of my favorites for his time in Blackfoot. He plays with confidence and exemplifies what it means to be in the band. Mark and Damon were just as impressive last night never shying away from the opportunity to dig in to their instruments! I think Billy Powell would be proud of Peter Keys. Peter plays with a lot of heart and is perfect in this lineup. Michael Cartellone and Robbie Harrington proved to be a solid rhythm section giving the band that driving force that kept people on their feet. Cartellone has been one of my favorites since his time with Damn Yankees, so it’s always a pleasure to see him. The man doesn’t miss a beat. Robbie Harrington is the newest to the lineup and has some big shoes to fill but something tells me he’s going to do just fine. The chemistry in this lineup kept the theme of the night giving us a really solid night of music! 

Rain or shine, the fans showed up ready for it and each band delivered giving the crowd exactly what they show up for. I know I’ll be sure to catch them next time.
